Permanent On-site

Clinical Role Overview

Looking for a veterinary role where you can broaden your experience, develop your confidence and enjoy being a vet?

We're looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our thriving, three-vet practice on Finchley Road, NW11.

This is an opportunity for a vet who enjoys variety: consulting, investigating medical cases, caring for inpatients and getting involved in surgery. You might already be confident in some areas and keen to develop in others. What matters most is that you enjoy good clinical work, care about your patients and want to be part of a team that takes pride in what it does.

Our practice started as a startup in 2019 and has grown into a busy, established clinic with a loyal client base and a varied caseload. The practice is led by a Partner with over 30 years of veterinary experience. We have built a clinic that combines the familiarity and continuity of first opinion practice with a caseload that offers plenty of clinical interest.

You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in:

  • First opinion consultations and ongoing client care.
  • Medical investigations and diagnostic work ups.
  • The assessment, treatment and monitoring of inpatients.
  • Routine surgery and the development of your surgical skills.
  • Diagnostic imaging and the use of our in-house equipment.
  • Working up cases, discussing treatment options and following patients through their care.

We're a three-vet practice, with a wider team of around 10-11 people on many days.

We also have access to Medivet's Hendon 24-Hour Hospital for cases requiring facilities or procedures beyond what we can offer in-house.

The practice isn't open overnight, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a varied and clinically rewarding role without working in a 24-hour hospital environment.

Facilities you'll enjoy working with:

  • A MyLab Fox ultrasound machine.
  • Full dental equipment, including dental radiography.
  • Up-to-date in-house laboratory and patient monitoring equipment.

You'll be a qualified MRCVS who enjoys general practice and wants to provide excellent care to patients and clients.

Working pattern:

This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, worked over four days.

The rota includes either:

  • One full weekend in six at Hendon 24-Hour Hospital; or
  • One Saturday in three on a two-clinic run.

Vets share bank holiday and on-call duties, typically involving two to three bank holiday shifts and two to three weeks of on-call per year.

Come and meet us

We’d love you to visit the practice, meet the team and see what makes us tick.

If you're looking for a varied veterinary role where you can contribute, develop and enjoy your work, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Your career means more than a rota and a job title, that’s why we offer:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Private Medical Insurance and Health Cash Plan from day one
  • 24/7 counselling and wellbeing support
  • Life Assurance 3 x salary
  • Annual leave
  • 5 weeks' annual leave plus Bank Holidays, rising with length of service
  • Extra 'Day for You', a paid day off just for you

Learning and development

  • £1,500 CPD allowance plus 3 days' paid leave per year
  • Access to Clinical Communities, internal CPD and our 24-hour hospitals
  • Funded certificates and internal career pathways

Additional support

  • RCVS, VDS and BVA fees paid
  • Relocation support and Visa sponsorship available
  • Sabbatical options based on length of service

Lifestyle

  • Cycle to Work
  • Season Ticket loans
  • Discounts on Medivet products and services

About you

You're a qualified MRCVS with a passion for clinical excellence and client care. You're a team player who wants to make a real difference in a practice that values and supports you.

What you'll be doing

Typically, in this role, you'll:

  • Deliver exceptional clinical care to patients in consults and surgery to the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance
  • Develop tailored treatment plans with clients
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive team
  • Share your skills and support our Medivet communities’ development
