Laboratory Testing Technician

Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire

Salary: Up to £26,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Laboratory Testing Technician to join a well-established technical organisation specialising in product testing and compliance services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, practical, and keen to develop a career within a laboratory and testing environment.

The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative team responsible for testing a broad range of safety products to ensure they meet recognised industry standards and performance requirements.

About the Role

As a Laboratory Testing Technician, your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out routine physical testing of safety and protective products in accordance with recognised standards and procedures.

Operating specialist testing equipment and recording accurate results.

Preparing samples prior to testing.

Maintaining laboratory equipment, work areas and sample storage facilities.

Processing test data and maintaining electronic records.

Supporting senior technical staff with customer visits and demonstrations where required.

Ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and within agreed timescales.

Comprehensive training will be provided to support your development within the role.

Products Tested

The laboratory tests a wide variety of safety-related products, including:

Protective gloves

Safety clothing

Eye and face protection

Head protection

Hearing protection

Fall protection equipment

Specialist workwear and sports protection products

About You

Essential Requirements

GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to follow procedures accurately.

Good organisational and time management skills.

Reliable and self-motivated approach to work.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable Experience

Previous laboratory or testing experience.

Experience working with safety equipment or technical products.

Confidence using Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Understanding of quality systems and compliance procedures.

A flexible approach with a desire to develop new skills.
