Registered Manager – Children’s Complex Care (Nurse Qualified)

Best Connections Healthcare is recruiting an experienced, nurse-qualified Registered Manager to lead the development of our specialist children’s complex care service.

Our focus is supporting children and young people with complex health needs to receive safe, personalised care in their own homes and communities, working closely with their families and healthcare professionals.

This is an opportunity to shape a service from its early stages—establishing clinical standards, developing systems, recruiting the right team and overseeing the safe introduction of new care packages.

We are looking for someone who combines strong children’s clinical experience with practical management skills. You will work directly with the company director and take a leading role in both clinical delivery and operational development.

The role

You will lead service setup and ongoing management, taking on the CQC Registered Manager role subject to the relevant registration approval. Your responsibilities will include:

• Service development and compliance: Establish policies, care documentation and quality assurance systems, maintain inspection readiness and oversee compliance with the requirements relevant to the service.

• Clinical oversight: Assess referrals, develop individual care plans and risk assessments, and ensure appropriate staffing, skills, equipment and clinical support are in place before care packages begin.

• Recruitment and staff development: Recruit and supervise nurses and care staff, coordinate training and establish robust competency assessment and clinical supervision arrangements.

• Quality and safety: Oversee safeguarding, medicines management, clinical audits, incidents and complaints, using findings and family feedback to improve care.

• Partnership working: Build effective relationships with children, families, commissioners, hospital discharge teams, community professionals and other agencies.

• Operational management: Plan staffing and rotas, establish contingency and out-of-hours escalation arrangements, and work with the director to develop a safe, sustainable service.

The planned service will support a range of complex clinical needs, which may include tracheostomy care, ventilation, enteral feeding and complex epilepsy. You will help determine which referrals the service can safely accept and ensure the appropriate specialist expertise is available.

About you

We are looking for a manager who can demonstrate:

• Current NMC registration. A Registered Children’s Nurse qualification is preferred. Other registered nurses with substantial, recent and demonstrable children’s complex-care competence will also be considered.

• Relevant clinical experience supporting children and young people with complex healthcare needs, together with experience in community or home-based care.

• Proven management experience, including leading teams, supervising staff, overseeing care delivery and addressing quality or performance concerns.

• Strong knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding and CQC requirements, with the ability and willingness to meet the requirements for registration as the service’s Registered Manager.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills, including the confidence to work with families and professionals, make sound decisions and manage competing priorities.

You must also be able to travel across Liverpool, Sefton and surrounding areas to meet the needs of the role.

Previous experience as a CQC Registered Manager, establishing a new service or introducing complex-care packages would be particularly valuable. A relevant leadership and management qualification, such as a Level 5 Diploma or equivalent, is desirable.
