Optical Lab Technician / Glazing Technician - Glasses Frame Repairs - Horsmonden, Kent

Salary: £27,000 to £30,000 FTE DOE, plus discretionary bonus

Hours: Monday to Friday, approximately 30 to 40 hours per week - Full or part time

Location: Horsmonden, Kent

Zest Optical is recruiting an Optical Lab Technician or Glazing Technician for a specialist glasses repair and lens reglazing workshop in Horsmonden, Kent.

This is a hands-on role combining prescription lens glazing with the opportunity to learn detailed spectacle frame repairs. The business works with customers and optical practices across the UK, repairing glasses that often cannot be fixed in a standard optical practice.

The role

Glaze and reglaze prescription lenses using Essilor equipment

Check lens powers, prescriptions and finished spectacles for accuracy

Assess damaged frames and learn specialist glasses repair techniques

Help process online orders and respond to customer enquiries, mainly by email

Support the small team with occasional customer appointments and other workshop tasksAbout you

You'll ideally have optical lab or glazing experience and a good understanding of prescription lenses and frames. Experience with Essilor, Nidek or Huvitz equipment would be useful, but the team can help you adapt to its systems.

Previous frame repair or rimless glazing experience would be an advantage, although neither is essential. You'll learn repair techniques from a highly experienced spectacle technician, including how to achieve repairs that are both secure and neat.

The team would also consider someone who has moved from a glazing role into optical retail, provided they have retained strong technical and lens knowledge. You'll need to enjoy practical work, take care with customers' eyewear and be willing to help across the business when needed.
