A global manufacturer of laboratory and scientific instrumentation is seeking a Sales Specialist to support and expand its customer base across the UK. The role focuses on a portfolio of materials characterisation equipment servicing a broad range of academic, advanced manufacturing and materials sector, you’ll be part of a 3-peson team covering customers across the UK with account responsibilities decided based on the location of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will work as part of an international commercial team and will be responsible for both new business development and ongoing customer support.

Responsibilities

• Develop new customer accounts and manage existing relationships through structured prospecting, lead follow‑up and regular communication.
• Manage the assigned territory, overseeing sales projects, negotiations and commercial activities.
• Support customers in developing applications and optimising use of the company’s instruments.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, exhibitions and technical events.
• Deliver on‑site sales presentations, instrument demonstrations and user training at customer facilities throughout the UK.
• Contribute to marketing and customer‑communication initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, physics, materials or a related characterisation focused scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in field sales of analytical or laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience in materials or characterisation techniques is beneficial
• Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Ability to engage confidently with laboratory managers, academic researchers, technical specialists and scientific end‑users.
• Willingness to travel across the UK, with occasional international travel for training or business meetings (c3 days out per week).
• Based in a central UK location with good access to major transport routes
• UK/EU driving licence, happy to manage a large territory which may include occasional overnight stays
