1-2-1 Teaching Assistants

CV-Library Bath Posted 01 Oct 2026 Closing: 01 Jan 0001
Contract On-site
£90.00 - £95.00/day dependent upon experience

Clinical Role Overview

Do you have experience working with children or young people with SEND?

Do you have experience supporting children or young people on a 1:1 basis or in small groups?

Do you have experience supporting any of the following: Autism/ASC, ADHD, SEMH, challenging behaviour or pupils with EHCPs?

TeacherActive is working closely with an inclusive secondary school in Bath that is looking for enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to support students across its mainstream provision.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly with young people and wants to make a genuine difference to their experience in school.

You will primarily work with students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within mainstream lessons, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence and become increasingly independent in their learning.

We are interested in hearing from experienced LSAs and Teaching Assistants, but we would also love to speak to graduates, university students and people with transferable experience who are looking to develop a career supporting young people.

The role will include:

Providing 1:1 support to individual students within mainstream classes

Supporting small groups with learning and classroom activities

Helping students remain engaged, organised and confident in lessons

Adapting your approach to meet individual needs and abilities

Working alongside teachers and the wider SEND/pastoral team

Encouraging independence rather than creating reliance on support

Supporting students' social, emotional and academic development

Helping create a calm, inclusive and positive learning environment

The ideal LSA will:

Be patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people

Have excellent communication skills

Be adaptable and confident working across different subjects

Understand that behaviour can often be a form of communication

Be reliable, resilient and genuinely interested in supporting young people

Have previous school/SEND experience or strong transferable experience working with children or young people

Relevant experience with SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH, EAL or students with EHCPs would be particularly welcome, although this is not essential for every position.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will receive:

A dedicated consultant who understands the local education market

Competitive rates of pay

Access to FREE CPD and training through TeacherActive

Support throughout the registration and clearance process

Opportunities for flexible, long-term and potentially permanent work

Referral bonuses through TeacherActive's referral scheme

TeacherActive is an equal opportunities employer and operates as an Employment Business in providing temporary or contract job-seeking services.

Application questions

What experience do you have supporting children or young people, either within education or another relevant setting?

How would you support a student 1:1 in a mainstream lesson while still encouraging their independence?

Do you have any experience supporting SEND, autism, ADHD, SEMH, EAL or students with EHCPs? Please give a brief example.
