Bank Healthcare Assistant HCA Primary Care

Locum Ready is looking for a Locum HCA to work for a GP practice in Newcastle Upon Tyne . This position is suited to a proactive Healthcare Assistant who can support the clinical team with routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to‑day treatment room activity.

You will be part of an organised primary care environment where you will help manage patient flow, assist with core clinical duties and contribute to high‑quality care delivery. The practice offers strong support and clear guidance to ensure every session runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
• Supporting with treatment room procedures
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained)
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required

Requirements

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS
• Phlebotomy experience desirable
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations
• Good communication and patient interaction skills
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation
• Enhanced DBS

Working Pattern

• Ad-hoc or regular weekly sessions
• Morning and afternoon availability
• Suitable for long‑term block bookings
