Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Planned Maintenance

Location: Canning Town, East London

Salary: £45,000–£50,000 + Car Allowance + Fully Expensed Fuel Card

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a well-known and highly respected main contractor specialising in planned maintenance and refurbishment works.

The company has an excellent reputation within the industry and is looking to strengthen its commercial team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of its L&Q contract, focusing on external works across a portfolio of scattered residential properties.

The contractor's head office is based near St Albans, with the site office located in Canning Town, East London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their commercial career within an established and reputable contractor.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the commercial management of planned maintenance and external works projects.
• Support the preparation, submission and agreement of valuations and variations.
• Assist with subcontractor procurement, payments and account management.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditure to help ensure works are delivered within agreed financial targets.
• Assist with cost reporting and financial forecasting.
• Work closely with site teams, subcontractors and the wider commercial department.
• Help identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Ensure accurate commercial records and project documentation are maintained.

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role.
• Experience within social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment or external works would be advantageous.
• A basic understanding of valuations, variations, subcontractor payments and cost control.
• Strong communication, organisational and numerical skills.
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline would be beneficial.
