Quantity Surveyor – Major UK Housebuilder

Up to £70,000 per annum + car allowance, bonus and pension

PW Construction Recruitment is recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK’s largest and most successful housebuilders, based from its Maidstone office.

You will take commercial responsibility for major residential developments comprising hundreds of homes, delivered over several years. This offers an intermediate-level Quantity Surveyor the opportunity to broaden their experience on substantial, phased developments within a leading national business.

The Role

You will manage the commercial and financial performance of allocated sites, maintaining effective cost controls and producing accurate reports for senior management.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing development budgets, cost monitoring and financial reporting.

Preparing cost forecasts and identifying variances, risks and opportunities.

Managing subcontractor enquiries, procurement and commercial negotiations.

Assessing valuations, payments and variations, and agreeing final accounts.

Monitoring expenditure and addressing potential cost overruns.

Liaising with construction, technical and site teams to resolve commercial issues.

Maintaining accurate commercial records throughout each development.

Candidate

Requirements

More than five years’ quantity surveying experience gained directly with a housing developer is essential.

You should have a strong understanding of housebuilding and be confident managing site costs, subcontractor accounts and financial reporting.

Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and commercial judgement are required, alongside good organisation and the ability to communicate effectively with subcontractors, site teams and senior management.

Experience on large, phased residential developments would be particularly relevant.

Package & Opportunity

The package includes a salary of up to £70,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus car allowance, bonus and pension.
