QC Analytical Chemist

Permanent On-site
£35000 - £45000/annum

Clinical Role Overview

Help maintain product quality and improve analytical testing as an innovative chemical process moves towards industrial scale.

Adepto Technical Recruitment is recruiting an experienced, hands-on QC/QA Chemist for a growing clean technology business.

Working primarily in the laboratory, you will support the production of calcium carbonate and potassium sulphate, ensuring raw materials, process samples and finished products consistently meet quality

requirements.

The role combines approximately 75% routine quality control and assurance with 25% analytical method development and improvement. It offers the opportunity to take ownership of reliable day-to-day testing while helping develop faster, more accurate and increasingly automated analytical methods.

The Role

Working closely with operations, chemists and process engineers, you will:

  • Analyse raw materials, process samples and finished products for composition, purity and consistency.
  • Assess new feedstocks and identify impurities that could affect production.
  • Investigate unexpected results and support production troubleshooting.
  • Analyse recycled process streams, gases and process water.
  • Maintain analytical equipment, calibration records, procedures and laboratory documentation.
  • Develop, validate and improve analytical methods.
  • Support automated testing and continuous process monitoring as production scales.
About You

You will bring a strong background in industrial analytical chemistry or laboratory QC/QA, ideally with around five to ten years of relevant experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Recent, hands-on experience testing samples in a chemical production or industrial laboratory environment.
  • Confidence operating analytical equipment and interpreting results.
  • A practical understanding of impurities, process chemistry and quality
requirements.
  • Experience improving or validating analytical methods.
  • The organisation and independence to maintain reliable testing and accurate records.

Experience with several of the following would be valuable: FTIR, NIR, XRD, SEM/EDS, TGA/DSC, ICP-OES/MS, ion chromatography, GC-MS, LC-MS and wet chemical analysis. You do not need experience with every technique.

A relevant scientific or engineering qualification is desirable, but proven industrial capability and practical laboratory experience will carry greater weight than academic background.

Why Apply?

You will have a direct influence on product quality, laboratory efficiency and the analytical systems needed to support a growing production operation.

This role would suit someone who enjoys routine laboratory work alongside practical problem-solving and method improvement.
