Join a leading regional firm with real ambition. Trethowans continues to build on a strong period of growth, and as part of our ongoing investment in our people and practice areas, we’re looking for a talented Senior Associate or Partner to join our Family Team in Salisbury. This is an opportunity to become part of a progressive, collaborative and well‑respected team at a time when our presence across the region is going from strength to strength.

The role

Based in our Salisbury office, you will work as part of a specialist team with extensive expertise in all areas of private family law. Our lawyers are all members of Resolution and committed to constructive, holistic problem‑solving, making full use of non‑court dispute resolution methods wherever suitable, while also handling court proceedings when required.

You will take on a varied and high‑quality caseload of private family matters, working with clients who value our clear, pragmatic and commercially aware approach. Alongside your technical expertise, you will play a key role in helping drive the continued growth and profile of our Family Team in Salisbury.

This role offers the autonomy to develop your practice, the support to progress your career, and the platform of a recognised regional firm with national‑level capability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Exposure to high‑quality, complex work from day one
  • Managing a busy caseload including divorce, financial remedy, private children matters and cohabitation disputes
  • Providing strategic and commercially focused advice tailored to each client’s circumstances
  • Working closely with the wider Family Team and partners to grow our offering in Salisbury
  • Actively contributing to business development initiatives and nurturing long‑term client relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members where required
  • Collaborating across departments to deliver a seamless client experience

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical strength and a forward‑thinking mindset.

  • 5PQE + in private family law
  • A track record of handling complex matters with confidence
  • Strong client‑relationship skills and an ability to build trust quickly
  • A strong local reputation and established network of professional connections
  • A genuine interest in marketing, business development, and contributing to the continued growth of the team
  • A collaborative, supportive approach, aligned with our firm values
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers is advantageous

We offer:

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits
  • Clear opportunities for progression and professional development
  • A modern, approachable and ambitious firm culture
  • The chance to be part of a team that is genuinely growing and evolving
