Clinical Role Overview

Senior Occupational Therapist - Children's Services

Locations: Reigate or Woking

Rate: Up to £42 per hour

Contract: Senior Occupational Therapist

Specialism: Children's Social Care / Children with Disabilities

We are looking for two experienced Senior Occupational Therapists to join established Children's Occupational Therapy services, with opportunities available in Reigate and Woking.

This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced OTs who are confident managing complex cases, making autonomous professional decisions and working closely with children, families, carers and other professionals.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can hit the ground running and bring strong senior-level Occupational Therapy experience. Previous experience within children's social care or Children with Disabilities services would be highly desirable, although experienced OTs from adult social care backgrounds will also be considered where they have strong transferable skills.

The role

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will manage a complex caseload and provide specialist assessment and intervention to help children maximise their independence, safety and functional ability within their home environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Undertaking specialist Occupational Therapy assessments for children and their families

Assessing and recommending specialist equipment and home adaptations

Completing manual handling assessments and providing appropriate advice and solutions

Managing complex cases involving higher levels of need and risk

Supporting children, parents and carers to enable safe care at home

Working collaboratively with families, multidisciplinary professionals and partner organisations

Applying strong professional judgement when balancing independence, safeguarding, rights and risk

Maintaining accurate and timely case records

Providing professional advice and guidance to less experienced OTs and OT Assistants

Supporting the supervision, mentoring and development of colleagues and students where required

Contributing to a positive learning and reflective practice culture within the team

About you

To be considered, you will need:

BSc/MSc or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy

HCPC registration

Strong previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist at a senior level

The confidence to manage complex cases independently and hit the ground running

Experience working with Children with Disabilities and/or within children's social care is highly desirable

Experienced Adult Social Care OTs with relevant transferable experience will also be considered

Strong knowledge of equipment, adaptations, manual handling and risk assessment

Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments

Strong safeguarding awareness and professional judgement

Previous experience supervising OTs, OT Assistants or students would be advantageous

Enhanced DBS suitable for working with vulnerable children

Ability and willingness to travel to undertake visits as required

Flexibility to undertake occasional after-school home visits where necessary

Why consider this opportunity?

Competitive rate of up to £42 per hour

Senior-level position with genuine professional autonomy

Opportunity to work directly with children and families and make a tangible difference to their everyday lives

Varied caseload involving specialist equipment, adaptations, manual handling and complex assessment

Opportunity to use your experience to support and develop other practitioners

Children's experience preferred, but strong Adult Social Care OTs will also be considered

Interested?

If you're an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for your next senior opportunity and you're confident working with complex cases from day one, we'd love to hear from you.
