Support Worker- Make Life Happen Every Day

Great Holm, Milton Keynes | Full-time and Part-time Opportunities

Part-time roles require a commitment of 22.5 hours per week. More than a job. A chance to make a real difference. What makes a home? Good company, favourite activities, a bit of laughter, and the freedom to live life your own way. At MacIntyre, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, make their own choices and feel part of their community. As a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism, we put people, their ambitions and their individuality at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for caring, enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team in Great Holm, Milton Keynes, where people live across 16 self-contained flats. Each flat is home to between one and four people, with their own routines, interests, friendships and ideas about what makes life special. And they know exactly what they enjoy! “I like living here because I see my friends and girlfriend regularly and I like my flat.” “I like going to the cinema with staff.” “I like the parties and barbecues that everyone has!” From cinema trips and social gatherings to everyday conversations and the comfort of a familiar routine, you'll help make these moments possible. You'll support people to stay connected, enjoy their interests, maintain their independence and feel at home. What you will be doing

No two days are quite the same. Some days might involve heading out into the community for activities, appointments or social events. On others, you'll be supporting people at home with daily routines, personal care and their health and wellbeing. This is a hands-on role where building relationships is just as important as providing practical support. Personal care and manual handling are significant parts of the job, so you'll need to feel comfortable delivering intimate care and supporting people with mobility and transfers. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Supporting personal care: Helping with washing, dressing, toileting and continence care, always protecting each person's dignity, privacy and choice. Developing practical care skills: Providing catheter care, including catheter changes, with full training and support. Promoting safe mobility: Using manual handling techniques to support people with transfers and movement. Supporting health and wellbeing: Assisting with medication, health appointments and everyday health needs. Making time for what matters: Sharing conversations, activities and experiences, offering reassurance and celebrating the little things that make a big difference. Building trusting relationships: Adapting to different personalities and communication styles. Some people enjoy expressive, tactile communication and physical reassurance, so you'll need to be confident in responding appropriately, respectfully and in line with each person's needs and preferences. Above all, you'll help people feel safe, valued and in control of their lives. Ready to make a difference?

If you're caring, enthusiastic and ready for a role that combines meaningful relationships with practical, hands-on support, we'd love to hear from you. Join MacIntyre in Great Holm and help people live life their way. Because the best support doesn't just help people get through the day. It helps them make the most of it. #IND About you

You don't need to have all the answers or previous experience in care. What matters most is your attitude, your willingness to learn and the way you treat people. You'll bring: Kindness, patience and a genuine interest in supporting others. Confidence and sensitivity when providing intimate personal care. A willingness to learn practical skills, including catheter care and manual handling. Good communication skills and the ability to recognise and respond to people's emotional needs. A flexible, positive approach, with a sense of humour and an appreciation that everyone is different. A full, valid UK driving licence, manual or automatic (essential). Some of the people we support are older, so an interest in health, wellbeing and maintaining dignity throughout all aspects of care would be particularly valuable. No experience? No problem. We'll help you learn.

We'll provide full training to help you develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills you need, including personal care, catheter care and manual handling. You'll also join a close-knit team where colleagues support one another, supervision is valued and there are opportunities to develop your skills as you grow in the role. This is a job where the difference you make can be seen in everyday moments: someone enjoying their favourite activity, feeling comfortable in their own home, spending time with the people they love or doing something they once thought might be out of reach.
