Support Worker

Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour if employed / £19.00 per hour if self employed.

About the recipient

An individual with ADHD and Dyspraxia requires support to maintain independence, manage daily living activities and access the community.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing prompts and encouragement to maintain personal care routines.
• Supporting with household tasks and maintaining a safe home environment.
• Assisting with meal planning, food shopping and meal preparation.
• Supporting with organising and managing paperwork.
• Supporting access to the community, including shopping and local activities.
• Providing support and encouragement when using public transport.
• Assisting the individual to attend important appointments where required.
• Promoting independence and supporting the individual to achieve their personal goals.

Hours

6 hours per week.

Working days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Exact times can be agreed with the successful candidate.

About the candidate

The suitable candidate must:

• Be motivated, proactive and able to work on their own initiative.
• Be patient, caring and understanding.
• Have good communication skills (clear and effective communication).
• Be able to build a positive relationship with the individual to both encourage and support them.
• Have previous experience caring for an individual with additional needs.
• Be flexible to accommodate the hours of work where necessary.
• Must have use of own car, to transport individual to social activities and appointments.

DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.

The Direct Payments Support Service is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The service promotes independent choice and inclusion, allowing our service users to employ their own care and support as needed. We support many individuals with varying abilities, assisting with advertising and recruitment for a range of roles including support workers, carers and personal assistants.

Travel

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required, applicants must be able to transport themselves.
